Relief collograph (house paint and spackle on chipboard)
each plate: 11 x 28 inches
2025

I made two different collograph plates, one for the front and one for the back of this print. I wanted the marks and patterns to be very similar. They were relief printed in white on a dark paper, so areas that were "high" on the plate appear lightest in the print. I especially like the way the marks I made by putting acrylic paint thickened with mag into an empty glue bottle and then drawing with it. The dark marks in the print are made by drawing through the spackle and paint with a sharp stick: it raises a nice burr of spackle and paint which prints lighter than the mark. I like this manner of printing these plates because I feel the print is a very good document of the plate and its drawn textures.
