Portfolio > Editioned Prints

This was a collaborative project with writer Gary Schulstad from when I was a resident at the Oregon School of Arts and Crafts in their Book Arts department, 1984-1985.
(OSAC later became the Oregon College of Arts and Crafts but since then, I was very sorry to hear, had to close down).
Each page is 8 x 10 inches. The "backgrounds" were intaglio printed from two large collograph plates on Rives BFK Gray, one for the first twelve and another for the second twelve: that image is continuous. The smaller images are intaglio prints on Arches Text which were then hand-colored. The text is laser printed onto Arches Text as well. The red spray paint was added after everything was collaged. The piece grew organically as the writer would respond to the images with his poetry and the artist would then respond to that with new images. Does text limit the way you perceive an image, or does an image that accompanies text limit is interpretation?
